R. Sankar Ministry (26.09.62 to 10.10.64)
The Third ministry was formed due to the problems in the Pattom Thanu Pillai's ministry between the allies in the Congress - PSP - Muslim League Front. After the appointment of Pattom Thanu Pillai as Governor of Punjab. R. Sankar formed the new ministry. PSP ministers viz D.Damodaran Potti and K.Chandraseharan resigned from ministership on 8.10.1962 and M.P. Govindan Nair was included in the ministry on 9.10.62. P.T.Chacko who was a vibrant leader of the Congress party had to resign from the post of Home Minister due to severe factional problems in the party. and T.A. Thomman was reinstated as Minister on 2.03.64.
15 MLA's of Congress party under the leadership of K.M. George and R. Balakrishna Pillai formed a new political party 'Kerala Congress' in Kottayam in 1964. And subsequently P.K. Kunju Sahib of the Communist Party put a No Confidence motion in the house and with the help of the splinter group they could bring down this ministry. Again President rule was imposed though General Elections were conducted in State in March 1965. But no party could gain a majority and hence the President's rule was extended till 1967 Elections.

Pattom Thanu Pillai Ministry (22.02.1960 - 26-09-1962)
Congress became the single largest party in the General Elections of 1960. Though Congress was the major party in the front, Pattom A.Thanu Pillai who was the Leader of PSP and former Chief Minister of Travancore and Thiru Kochi State was given the chance to be the Chief Minister. The Congress leadership wasnt happy with the decision but co-operated with the decision of the High Command. In 1962 when Pattom Thanu Pillai was appointed as Governor of Punjab, Congress headed the govt under the leadership of R.Sankar. E.M.S. Namboothiripad was the Leader of Opposition. K.M.Seethi Sahib was the elected as Speaker and after his demise om 17 April 1961, Alexander Parambithara was reinstated as Speaker.

E.M.S. Namboothiripad Ministry (05-04-1957 to 31-07-1959)
The first communist government in
the world to be elected through ballet paper. Though Kerala State was formed in
November 1, 1956 the first general elections to the Kerala Legislative Assembly
was held during Feb -March 1957. The Communist Party of India (CPI) ministry
headed by E.M.S. Namboothiripad took charge on April 5, 1957.
Sankaranarayanan Thampi was elected as the Speaker and Smt.K.O. Aishabai was the deputy speaker. P.T. Chacko of Congress was the Leader of Opposition.
The government was dissolved on 31st July1959 by the union government by invoking Article 356 of the Constitution of India, following the Liberation Struggle which shook the state government.
